RIO = Oi

What a welcome word - "Oi"

The moment I landed at the airport of Rio de Janeiro, I had to pass the immigration.

So at the gates, I was welcomed by the custom officer with Oi !! I knew it means hello and I said Oi. Then the custom officer directed me to the gate for Brazilian Passport holders as he mistook me as Brazilian.

It could be a strange coincidence but feels great. Thats not the only time when I was considered to be from Brazil.

My friend Jorge welcomed me at the airport with a big smile as it was proved by then that its more than winning a battle to travel. Again at the hotel reception Oi!! This time for my passport, the receptionist says, Oh you are Indian. Hello!!

Time and again, in the streets people would say Oi and ask for directions and in restaurants, people start talking to me in Portuguese and then I had to say Eu não falo Portugues!! They would say "No Brazil" and smile.

Brazil is such a big fusion of people from everywhere that there is many faces of Brazil.

Oi Oi Oi!!

Another beautiful smile which comes from Chatuchak weekend market, Bangkok.

As we entered the market we stopped for some water where the Lady smiled as much that we decided to buy water from her.

ACCENT !! FUNNY IS IT ?

There is a language and then there is an accent i.e to speak it. Every language has an original accent for the place it comes from and then there are multiple accents for the people around the world speaking it. Its a big blend. Well thats the magic of Language.

Many times we come across people speaking English and we say how funny. However it is for sure our accent is funny to them too.

While I was at Deutsche Bank , I made my American colleague laugh for my accent and it would be so wrong if I say that I do not laugh for their accent.

During the travel it is very obvious we come across such situation, we make people laugh for the way we speak and they laugh for ours. We pick some from their style and leave ours to them too.
