As yesterday the boats sailed from the east coast of India. Today its time to think where these boats are sailing. Are they reaching the destinations. where is the destination ?
Are there fixed destination or they sell their goods where ever they land. If there are fixed places to sail as per the ancient manuscripts then are their people to welcome the maritime sellers. Are those stories in the scripts real or imaginary.
I slept over this big question and this morning I was restless with a smile to search on all that history. Spoke to my Mother, stories from my Grand Mother, Some one in my family, brother of my great grandfather sailing to Ragoon in Myanmar. Trying to connect everything I am very positive that all those facts are truth and not just rituals.
In the past the mariners from Orissa had big courage to sail to far off lands. I also found connection between Kalinga(old name for Orissa) and RomanEmpire, Africa, Persian coast, Arabian
countries in the West and China, Japan, Siam, Champa, Burma, Ceylon etc in the East. Old Manuscripts dating before 1000 BC describes Chilika, Orissa as a major harbour for thousands of ships those came to trade from Gangasagara, Burma, Malaya,Siam, China etc
Its very Amusing to learn all these facts especially when you have traveled to those lands without any knowledge about the past connections.
As a traveler it would be a bonus, If I could sail those tiny boats from other part which used to be our destination. I would surely bring more pictures to share here.
